The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has denied media reports saying it was wanting to set out on a one-week cautioning strike.
The News Agency of Nigeria NAN yesterday cited the Chairman of the University of Abuja section of ASUU, Ben Ugheoke, as saying the union will on October second set out on a one-week cautioning strike to squeeze home their requests from the full usage of the 2009 assertions they had with the Federal government.
In a meeting with Premiumtimes today, Ugheoke denied making such a declaration in a meeting he allowed a NAN columnist.
"A specific journalist in NAN is in charge of this harm. As a consequence of this distorted report, I am confronting a board later today evening time from ASUU National body.
I have connected with the NAN journalist and he let me know it was a mistake. He likewise implored me to spare his employment. We have never given a date for any type of strike, whether cautioning strike or out and out strike. There was in no way like a date settled for a strike" he said.
Ugheoke says he trusts the organisation will discharge an answer to the false report soon. ASUU on August 31st debilitated to set out on an across the country strike over the non-usage of its 2009 concurrence with the Federal Government.
