Urhobos Have No Bond With Biafra – Urhobo union president

Olorogun Moses Taiga, the President General of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide has told those drawing maps that include Urhobo in Biafra to stop wasting their time. NAIJ.com gathered that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in its map of states has Urhobo and the entire Delta state. But Taiga explained that Biafra and Urhobo do not even share a common boundary and there is nothing binding the Igbos with them.

The business mogul speaking with Vanguard said: “We the Urhobo Nation know we are not even neighbours to some of those people who said we are part of them. “We have the Ijaw to the west, we have the Edo to the north, and we have the Anioma to the northeast, so there is nothing that binds us. “There is no correlation between us, and we also have the natural River Niger that separates us there is, therefore, no case in that. “The issue is does somebody draw an artificial map and say Edo and Delta are part of his own. “The Youngman, Nnamdi Kanu lives in England and makes all sorts of claims. The Southern Leaders Forum said any attack on any party of the South is an attack against the whole South, so we do not intend to select any nation in the whole of the South for special attack.

“We are not part of any other kingdom; we are the fourth largest nation in the country, and we’ve not fought hard enough to secure our rightful place, but our job is to try to articulate our position and ensure that we are due for recognition.” NAIJ.com previously reported that the federal government has been called upon to arrest Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) or face mass protest by the Arewa Youth Assembly, AYA, a group from the northern part of the country. According to the group, the IPOB leader has violated his bail conditions and such acts is capable of distabilising the country.

In a statement signed by its speaker and made available to Premium Times, Mohammed Salihu and clerk, Desmond Minakaro, AYA gave the acting president Yemi Osinbajo 10 days to order the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu.

‘Tiwa Savage is the only celebrated female artiste in Nigeria’ – Bonang

South Africa’s celebrity OAP and rapper AKA’s girlfriend Bonang Matheba, in a recent interview she granted called on the Nigerian entertainment industry to quickly tie the loose ends on their regard for female creatives.

Bonang insisted that her country celebrates female entertainers more than Nigeria, which to her mind, has bigger clout and should therefore set good examples.

Here’s what she said;

“Tiwa Savage is the only popular female voice in Nigeria that is greatly celebrated, while the rest of the country honours and recognises men more. This is an area of observation that can be more elevated”
“Our [South Africa’s] industry is far much kinder to our female counterparts and genuinely celebrates them and allows them to shine.”

Workers In Port Harcourt Brothel Protest Against Manager's Plan To Host Vigil After Pastor Said It Will Boom Their Business.

Commercial sex workers operating at Pedro Hotel in Azikiwe Street in Mile 2, Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Thursday protested over plan by its manager to force them to attend night vigil expected to hold yesterday night, Thursday July 27.

It was learnt that the sex hawkers became angry with the manager when he insisted that every occupant of the hotel must join the night vigil or her room would be padlocked until the vigil is over.

The manager who did not mention his name while he was shouting on the ladies said he has been shifting the date of the vigil to accommodate the ladies’ view, adding that nothing will stop him from postponing the vigil again.

He noted that the night vigil was for the interest of the ladies and the business, stressing further that any lady who failed to attend the vigil will see the other side of him.

Speaking to The Nation correspondent, the receptionist said nobody is in support of the plan to host night vigil in a brothel.

She disclosed further that the manager was approached by a pastor who now made him to believe that hosting night vigil with the ladies will increase God’s blessings and prosperity on the business.

She said the ladies have made their intention clear that they are not going to attend the vigil, adding that the choice of worshipping God is in the hand of the individual which cannot be forced upon.

One of the sex hawkers, who simply gave her name as Rose, said they have talk to the manager that such plan cannot work because they are in the business which they cannot leave to attend night vigil.

She said they are not against night vigil because sometimes some of them worship their God and also attend night vigil when it pleases them.

"The manager is just wasting his time, we are going to see what would happen tonight, we are here for business and not for some religious patronage. By tomorrow we are going to pay our rent because we pay him every Friday of the week.

“How do we cope to meet up with our rent? If we attend night vigil tonight is he going to allow us to stay in the rooms without payment. Another question I want to ask is that are we going to leave our customers at the room who have already paid for daybreak, so it is not going to happen."

Nnamdi Kanu Reportedly Chased Away From Anambra Monarch’s palace

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was allegedly sent away from the palace of Obidiegwu Onyesoh, the traditional ruler of Nri, a community in Aniocha local government area of Anambra state, for reportedly violating tradition.

Speaking with journalists in Awka, the state capital on Thursday, Ifeanyi Onyesoh, personal assistant to the monarch, said Kanu and his supporters attempted to force their way into the palace.

“They tried to forcefully open the entrance gate of the palace and it was this unruly conduct that made the traditional ruler to telephone the security agents who responded promptly and dispersed Kanu and his supporters,’’ Onyesoh said.

Onyesoh said Kanu and his wife, Uchechi, and supporters violated the tradition of the town during their visit on July 19 and that the people were angry.

Onyesoh said a day before Kanu’s visit, 12 young people came to the palace of Eze Nri requesting an appointment with the traditional ruler.

“I was the person that received them and so I told them to go and come back with a written letter so that they will get official reply from the palace since the delegation looked unusual, in that there was no titled person among them,” he said.
“At this point, they all left and what we saw the next day was Kanu visiting Nri community with a huge crowd of his supporters.
“He (Kanu) went straight to the house of one Chief Shadrack Mbanefo, a subject of the traditional ruler of Nri.

“The feelers we later got, was that the said Mbanefo claimed he handed over the `Offo Nri ’, (symbol of royalty) to Kanu, and even allowed Kanu to visit the historic ‘Ohianwehi forest’ revered as ‘forest of life’ by Igbo tradition.
“This forest is believed to be the place the first burnt offering was offered by the Jewish Igbo ancestors when they migrated from Israel more than 2,000 years ago.”
Onyesoh said Nri people considered Kanu’s conduct as a taboo because no high profile visitor entered the community without first visiting the traditional ruler, “let alone a sacred place without the knowledge of the ruler”.

He said the people regarded Kanu’s action as an affront on their values and so resolved not to sweep the matter under the carpet.

“It is a taboo in Nri and equally against the Anambra state traditional rulers’ council law for a high profile visitor to visit a community without first paying homage to the traditional ruler,” he said.
“The people of Nri and her traditional ruler are not against Nnamdi Kanu and his agitation/aspiration but what we cannot take is for Kanu to come and mess up the Nri culture and tradition under whatever motive.
“The community will drag him to customary court to ensure that nobody else gives such insult to the community and its heritage.
“If Kanu wants a title, Eze Nri is not aware of such aspiration.
“If Kanu indeed met with anybody and claimed he was given `Offo Nri’, it means he is seeking the title through the back door and for the title he claimed was given to him by `Adama’ (Mbanefo ), a servant to Eze Nri, is a nullity.
“Nri is the ancestral home of all Igbo people and for him to visit Nri in the manner he did means he has no knowledge of Igbo tradition and culture.
‘’So, he must first study Igbo tradition and culture and properly be advised before he misleads himself.’’

“We decided to keep mute all along as we felt Kanu and his men will allow for dialogue.
“But we are surprised that despite the fact that the Northern youths who earlier issue quit notice to the Igbo’s has make a U-turn on their decision, Kanu and his men are still moving around spreading hate speeches

“We are tired as we are losing patience, in as much as we understand that Kanu does not have the support of the majority of the Igbo’s, we felt its high time the security operatives do their job in getting him arrested
“Kanu does not have monopoly of violence as efforts are been made at dousing rising temper of over 25million Yoruba Youths who are not happy with the war like attitude of kanu and his men
“We therefore use this medium to call on the acting president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to oder the arrest of Kanu
“We equally support the letter addressed to the UN by the coalition of Nothern Youths to declare IPOB a terror group” he said.
